According to the Georgian Code of Administrative Offences, a police officer, who ensures safety of traffic participants and supervises compliance with the Highway Code, shall be obliged to prohibit a person from driving a vehicle:
- 1 In relation to whom there is the substantial evidence, that he/she is under drug or psychotropic substance influence and forwards him/her to the duly authorized persons of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for examination
- 2 In relation to whom there is the substantial evidence that he/she is under alcoholic influence and arrests him/her for 15 days

საქართველოს ადმინისტრაციული სამართალდარღვევათა კოდექსის 116-ე მუხლის შენიშვნის პირველი ნაწილის თანახმად, პოლიციელი, რომელიც უზრუნველყოფს საგზაო მოძრაობის მონაწილეთა უსაფრთხოებას და ზედამხედველობს საგზაო მოძრაობის წესების დაცვას, ვალდებულია სატრანსპორტო საშუალების მართვას ჩამოაშოროს პირი რომლის მიმართაც არსებობს საკმაო საფუძველი, რომ იგი ნარკოტიკული ან ფსიქოტროპული სიმთვრალის მდგომარეობაშია, და გამოკვლევის მიზნით წარადგინოს საქართველოს შინაგან საქმეთა მინისტრის მიერ საამისოდ უფლებამოსილ პირთან.
